A multi-currency store, a shared content engine, and a media pipeline that keeps a photography-heavy catalogue quick.

The challenge

What they needed.

Laxakaar is contemporary womenswear, dresses, co-ord sets, suits and resort wear, merchandised through editorial collections and shot like editorial. That means the site lives or dies on photography and video, which is exactly the content that makes a store slow. Product shots arrive from the studio at full resolution and video at full bitrate, and uploaded as-is they produce a beautiful catalogue that nobody on a mobile connection waits for.

Our approach

What we did.

We treated media as a build step rather than an upload. A resize pipeline in Pillow caps every image at twenty megapixels while preserving aspect ratio, and a compression pipeline in ffmpeg standardises video to 720p at CRF 25 with faststart enabled so playback begins before the file finishes loading. The brand keeps its full-resolution masters and the store gets versions sized for the phones people actually browse on. Alongside it, an instance of the shared Akyra content engine, and printed QR codes linking physical pieces back to the store.
