A small Mumbai studio that would rather ship your product than present slides about it. Two founders, a tight engineering team, and no account managers between you and the people doing the work.

Where this started

Less noise. More building.

The Tech Thingy is a product engineering studio based in Mumbai, India, founded in 2024. Before it existed, Toshita spent close to a decade shipping software at Disney, Bewakoof and Builder.ai, and kept watching the same thing happen: good businesses getting bad software, sold to them in language they were never meant to understand.

So the studio was built around one idea: the people who write the code should be the people in the room. No layers of account management, no proposals padded with jargon, no invoices with surprises in them. Working software in weeks, priced honestly, explained in plain language.

Today that means client work across 12+ industries, our own products like The Real Estate Thingy, and live workshops for founders who want to understand the software they are paying for.

Toshita Pandey is an engineering leader and the co-founder of The Tech Thingy, a Mumbai-based product engineering studio that builds SaaS platforms, mobile apps and AI-integrated systems for founders and growing teams. She spent a decade shipping software at Disney, Bewakoof and Builder.ai before starting The Tech Thingy in 2024, and has led engineering for products used by millions of users.

Her work sits at the intersection of technology and business: translating what a company needs to sell into what its team needs to build. She writes about engineering leadership, prioritisation and building tech that actually helps, was named to Topmate's Top 100 Women in Software, and has spoken on the DevDynamics podcast on urgent-versus-important in engineering. She is currently building The Real Estate Thingy, an ERP for Indian real-estate builders. Toshita studied Electronics & Communication Engineering and is based in Mumbai.
